Moses already had a good experience of God - he had already seen the burning bush, heard God’s voice numerous times, and seen miracle after miracles - so a rich prayer life wasn’t something new to him. But Moses wanted more and made an audacious request: “Show me Your glory” (v18). All the works of God - the dramatic deliverance from Egypt, the miracles and power - were good and great, but Moses wanted a deeper experience with God Himself. And God granted his prayer and greatly saw God like never before. Moses encountered God more personally for he asked God to reveal more and greater Himself before him. This made a great change in Moses’ life and the life of the people of Israel for God revealed Himself more personally and closely to Moses. This sustained Moses in life that helped carry on the plan of God for them and for the greater glory of His name.
